My experience in grassroots racing
COVID-19 began surging through the United States in 2020, I was taking a year off before pusuing my college degree, and wanted to try something new. With a lifelong love of cars—thanks to my father, who raced everything from Porsches to Baja 1000 trucks—I decided to take the plunge into high-performance driving. I picked up a little subaru, hit the track, and never looked back.
Weekends quickly became dedicated to wrenching on cars, adding modifications, and pushing limits at local racetracks with the Porsche Club of America and Audi Club. The thrill was undeniable, and before long, I knew I wanted more.
Four years, and a few cars later, I earned my SCCA racing license and now compete in Showroom Spec Miata (SSM), a highly competitice class dedicated to 90s Mazda Miatas that are fully stripped out, equipped with roll cages, and a fire extinguisher. The competition is intense—ranging from rookie drivers to national and international champions. It is how many ex pros scratch their itch for racing without the costs and unatainability of pro racing. It’s some of the most fun you can have on four wheels.

HPDE (High Performance Driver's Education)
When we aren't in the Engel & Volkers shop killing it in the DC real estate market, we drive at celebrated race tracks in my Street Honda Civic Type R, and Race Miata along with my real estate mentor, and Team Member, Phil Di Ruggiero in his 911 Turbo Racecar.
When I'm not racing, I participate in High Performance Education events with my local Porsche Club, (which you don't need a porsche to join) networking, comparing lap times, getting seat time with instructors, and solving inevitable car problems all weekend.
High performance driving has opened many doors for my carreer, and the community is always welcoming to newcomers.
